Vision 2030: The Gambia Women Service Centre Initiative.

Welcome to all our visitors and supporters. And a special welcome to all the Gambian women world wide. Whether you are from the remotest part of the village, or the beam-light of the city, I say welcome again; this is your home hub. Thank you all in advance for reading this message. By now, I hope you have had the opportunity to browse the website and gained confidence in what The Gambia Women Service Centre (TGWSC) stands for. In this message, I will address the current and future state of TGWSC, as well as your role(s) in making TGWSC a tangible success. 

I want to thank the many women in my life that inspire me to appreciate the countless values that women add to society in so many ways. As I proceed with this welcome, I also want to align your mind with TGWSC's beginning with a brief description of what our vision at The Gambia Women Service Centre is, and the initiatives we are taking to make TGWSC a success both at home, and aboard.

What is Vision 2030 TGWSC?

Simply put, Vision 2030 initiative is the primary aim of launching our first modern facility in 2030 right at home in the Gambia. It is also everything we do from now on until we are up and running in that facility. In the interim, we will continue to meet the needs of our members both remotely and at various temporary locations in The Gambia. Through out this process, we will keep our visitors as well as our sponsors and friends at large of our progress. We are excited about now and the future. And are building a movement that will change the lives of our members. 

The Mandate

TGWSC mandate is to support women in their quest to living healthier lives through a holistic approach of personal selfcare and maternity care. As we move towards Vision 2030, we encourage donations of supplies and financial aid throughout the process. This will help us meet the immediate needs of our members while we work to secure the future. Accept my apologies for sounding typical, but I would like to remind each of us, that while immediate donations of supplies are encouraged, financial donations are pivotal towards achieving this vision and movement happening now.

Finally

To our supporters and donors, on behalf of the entire team at TGWSC, we thank you. You are sincerely the wheels of the barrow. We stand strong in faith that as we approach the realization of Vision 2030, we at TGWSC will continue to keep our values, goals, and the women we serve at the forefront of all we do. We must always uphold our integrity with the resources that are and/or will be entrusted to us to build upon this movement and future initiatives of TGWSC. With the support of the entire Gambian community at home and aboard, we can make many possibilities a measurable reality.

To the women of TGWSC, we thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. This is our way of acknowledging our moto: For where there is life, there is a woman.

I have been blessed by many women in my life time. Below are just a few of the women from my own family I want to acknowledge.

Personal Care

 When it comes to feminine hygiene, women around the world share a common need. That need is the access to clean and safe products during that special time of the month and everyday. At The Gambia Women Service Centre, we strongly acknowledge and respect that women from many cultures, and backgrounds around  the world have their own ways of practicing feminine hygiene that is suitable to their womanhood. With that said, we are dedicated to providing feminine hygiene products that are known universally, but that are not readily available and/or affordable for many. For many women, this is a  sacred time for them, and as such, we hope to treat it the same in our approach while meeting their needs. Additionally, we provide oral hygiene and bath & body products to assist in the general personal care of the female body. In short, at TGWSC, we provide these products as a gateway to support each woman in her own approach to caring for her body while improving her overall wellbeing.

Maternity Care and Motherhood

During Pregnancy and After Birth 

For many, motherhood is a celebratory time of life. It is the beginning of growth for individuals, families, and the community at large. At The Gambia Women Service Centre, we embrace this journey from  beginning to end; we focus on maternity care during pregnancy and after birth. The centre’s primary focus in maternity care is to ensure that all women of childbearing age, who are active members of TGWSC have access to the fundamental life skills specific to the need of women during this crucial  period of life. Additionally, each participating mother and/or mother-to-be is gifted with a starter kit that includes items for mom and baby(ies) as a token to say thank you for life, and to help with the specific needs of both their care during this time.

The Gym

Your Gym, Your Way

Just google benefits of going to the gym, and you will find many. For all the great reasons you may  discover to motivate you, the most important one is that it is great for your overall health. The mind,  body and spirit are connected, this is not just a concept, it is a reality, and one we must embrace.  Working out is an excellent way to release stress and maintain and/or improve good health. It requires  time, but just a little bit of time at the gym is good for anyone. At The Gambia Women Service Centre,  we are committed to the overall well-being of women. To have a gym that women can feel comfortable  at during their workout is paramount to all we stand for. With that said, we strongly encourage all  female members of TGWSC to utilize the gym and feel the power of a holistic self-care regime. We look  forward to seeing you workout in your element, until then, stay excited for a healthier you!  

Basic Health

 Blood Type and Vital Signs Clinic

 At The Gambia Women Service Centre, we offer a convenient way to check your blood type and vital  signs. This service is free to all members of the centre. We want to encourage each woman to extend and/or continue her self-care beyond beauty regimes. Minding our health in small ways helps our  overall health and longevity. As such, we hope to see you at the check-up.

Who We Are

 The Gambia Women Service Centre (TGWSC) is a non-profit organization operating in The Gambia. It exist to serve Gambian women through a multitude of services that promotes a holistic approach to the health and general wellbeing of women. Furthermore, TGWSC extends itself beyond the Gambian border by warmly embracing our Gambian sisters globally. This global sisterhood approach is an example of our moto ‘Where There is Life, There is a Woman.’ We support and encourage our members to participate in the following programs and services: Feminine Personal Care (your beauty, your way), Maternity Care, Blood Type  and Vital Signs Clinic, and a Gym for optimum health. As stated earlier, we take a holistic approach to  women’s health. Our goal is to offer women at the various stages of their lives a safe place they can  relate to when it comes to self-care and motherhood.
